Through both the DuPage Habitat for Humanity project and Camp Paradise, located in Michigan, the team at Showalter Roofing was able to give back with our time and materials to worthy causes. Both of these charities are great assets to their community and provide opportunities for many. Check out Camp Paradise and what they do here and the DuPage Habitat for Humanity here.
Located on 1,000 acres of Michigan’s northern peninsula, Camp Paradise is a summer camp that fosters the relationship between dads and their kids. Through different camp programs, along with stepping away from everyday stressors, the father-son or father-daughter relationship can be strengthened. When their camp director reached out to Showalter Roofing to help construct both a chapel and six new cabins, we decided to help out.
Before we started on the cabin construction, we focused on the 10,000 sq. ft. chapel. Over the next four months, we worked on everything from blueprint readings and material ordering to fabricating any metal flashings and obtaining the supplies and equipment needed. Our team was able to install the large roof over several days-without any running water or electricity!
After the chapel roof was installed, without any delays (!), the six new cabins were our main priority. In May 2014, we were able to install all six roofs to the brand new cabins!
Habitat for Humanity
Most are aware of Habitat for Humanity, though many are not aware of the specific impact each chapter has on their community. The DuPage Habitat for Humanity in particular focuses on building homes with volunteers and partner families, and then selling the home at an extremely affordable price to the family. Our team has helped install roofs to many of the homes they have built in the community.
Here at Showalter Roofing, we take pride in being a faithful friend to the DuPage Habitat, along with Camp Paradise, and look forward to a long partnership in the future.
